Powell, TN (April 11, 2021) – A motorcycle rider was killed and one other person was injured during a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Clinton Highway at West Emory Road.

The accident took place at about 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 11th. Rural Metro, Knox County Rescue, and AMR were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered bystanders performing CPR on one of the victims.

According to Rural Metro Fire and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Toyota Prius driven by Anna Baird, 67, was attempting to make a lefthand turn into the parking lot of Weigel’s from the northbound lane of Clinton Highway when she failed to yield to an oncoming motorcycle driven by Jessica Dostie, 45. This caused the bike to crash into the side of the Prius and come to an uncontrolled stop at the intersection of West Emory Road and Clinton Highway.

Dostie was transported via ambulance to a local trauma center. She was pronounced dead a short while later.

Baird was taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
