Powell, TN (July 15, 2021) – Knox County Rural Metro Fire and several other emergency response crews reported to the scene of a serious head-on accident that put both drivers in the hospital on the afternoon of Thursday, July 15th in Powell.

According to an official from Rural Metro Fire, rescue teams were dispatched to the scene at an intersection in the area of Brickyard Road and West Beaver Creek Drive in Knox County after receiving reports of a crash victim being trapped inside their vehicle.  

Knox County Rescue and American Medical Response were also on the scene. Statements indicate that the driver of one of the vehicles was able to get out while the driver of the other vehicle needed to be extricated.

Both drivers were transported via ambulance to an area trauma center. Both victims were reported to have sustained serious injuries during the collision.  

Eyewitnesses told responders on the scene that it appeared as though one of the vehicles swerved across the center line and hit the other vehicle head-on. No indication was given as to which driver was liable for the crash.

This accident is under investigation by local law enforcement.
